The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has announced 25 deaths, while 11 people remain missing and 5,560 people displaced due to floods in Yola, Adamawa State.
In a report released yesterday, the agency reported that 11 people remain missing, while the number of injured and missing persons is unknown.
The agency reported that it has deployed a team to the affected areas and is working closely with relevant authorities in search and rescue operations for the missing and deceased.
The report said: “As part of the ongoing response efforts following the Yola flood disaster, the Yola Operations Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has deployed a team to participate in the search for the missing and deceased in the affected communities.”
“During the operations, an additional body was recovered while a number of displaced persons were relocated to designated camps. To improve coordination and management, two previously established camps, A.A. School and A.A. School, were merged.” Namatari Secondary School and Aliyu Musada Yola College, in the same camp, Aliyu Musada Yola College.
“As of Tuesday, July 28, 2025, the total number of displaced persons was 5,560, the total number of families 927 and the total number of houses 524. The number of dead was 25 and 11 missing. The number of injured and missing is still being confirmed.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reported that an organised camp management system has been put in place, and said most basic amenities and needs have been put in place.
It also said that the presence of government and non-government partners has contributed to better management of the humanitarian situation.
