Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, popularly known as Blaqbonez, recently stirred conversation about modern relationships by sharing his views on open marriage during an appearance on the In My Opinion podcast in early 2025.

He stated, “Most married couples don’t keep having the same amount of sex as at the beginning. If someone else satisfies her sexually while I’m hustling, touring, it’s okay, as long as she’s still dedicated to me.”
Blaqbonez emphasized that sexual encounters shouldn’t threaten the unique emotional connection between spouses, drawing attention to evolving perspectives on marriage in Nigerian society.
His comments have sparked discussions about commitment and changing marital norms among young listeners.
