The Southern Governors’ Forum (SGF) has reached out with sympathies to Kogi State’s Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, following the death of his father, Alhaji Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo. The elder Ododo passed away on Monday at 83 years old.
In a message from the Forum’s Chairman, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, they shared their profound sadness over the loss, especially since it follows closely on the heels of another recent bereavement the passing of Lady Lydia Yilwatda, mother to the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
They encouraged Governor Ododo to find comfort in the strong legacy his father built, noting how he left this world embraced by family, with his children and grandchildren poised to carry on his values of service to faith and community.
Key excerpts from the Forum’s statement include:
- “The Southern Governors’ Forum commiserates with His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, on the transition of his father, Alhaji Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo.”
- The irreplaceable gap left by a father who dedicated himself to raising his kids in Islamic principles and providing wise advice whenever needed.
- “Yet, as Almighty Allah (SWT) knows best, we submit to His will and stand in firm solidarity with His Excellency, his family, and the Government and people of Kogi State in this moment of grief.”
- Highlighting Alhaji Ododo’s enduring example of devotion, humility, and community work, with prayers for Allah to overlook any flaws and welcome him into Al-Jannah Firdaus.
This gesture underscores the unity among Nigeria’s southern leaders during times of personal loss, reminding us of the shared human experiences that transcend politics.
